Temperance Mark Lodge No774 Sep ‘21

While some golfers enjoyed a round of golf in the evening sun at Woolton Golf Club, others were enjoying drinks on the outside terrace of the Club house. It was the last day of summer and everyone was going to make the most of it. Autumn officially begins 22nd September and British Summer Time ends on Sunday 26th.

The Club house as had a facelift during the lockdowns and looks bright and fresh. Upstairs at the Club house is the Masonic suite and there Temperance Mark Lodge No774 were preparing for their first meeting of the season. Unfortunately, many of the Lodge members were at the Provincial meetings at Blackpool. This coupled with holidays and in one case a reminder of the Covid-19 Pandemic it was a select few at the meeting. At 18.00 prompt the Worshipful Master opened the Lodge in due form. Once the minutes had been approved, it was time to move onto the Proclamation of the Master. Acting DC, WBro Derek Gaskell, PPrGMO, stepped forward to Proclaim WBro Mike Cunliffe, Master of Temperance Mark Lodge.

Those officers who were there at the meeting were then installed into the officers. With the meeting moving swiftly along it was time to welcome the first of two joining members. Bro Alan Malthouse was introduced to the WM by the DC in order to receive the By-Laws of the lodge. Once Bro Malthouse had been seated; WBro Gaskell introduced the second joining member to WBro Cunliffe. However, there was more to this introduction as WBro Gordon Sandford was joining from the Scottish Constitution. This involved performing a short ceremony, involving the Worshipful Master, Director of Ceremonies and Registrar of Marks who in this case was WBro Mike Winterbottom, PGSD; who is also the PGM’s Special Representative for the Liverpool area.

With the ceremony complete WBro Sandford was seated in the lodge. After the general lodge business was over the Master closed the lodge in due form. It was then time to try the culinary delights of the new catering service at the Club. The serving staff were cheerful and efficient and the food excellent. All in all, it was a good start to the new season with two joining new members and an advancement to be done at the December meeting.

As mentioned earlier one fully vaccinated member had gone down with Covid-19, so please remember the simple rules; Hands; Face and Space.
